Why not decide for yourself whom to socialize with instead of letting your master decide for you?

Are the underlined words a direct object of decide?

Would it be better to write '...with whom to socialize...'?

I was under the impression the original was a hypercorrection. That is, the sentence should either use the objective case whom preceded by the preposition or use the less formal who.
