Which of the following sentences is correct?

1) Last weekend, in continental Europe, we put the clocks one hour forward.

2) Last weekend, in continental Europe, we moved the clocks one hour forward.

3) Last weekend, in continental Europe, we set the clocks one hour forward.

If all three are possible, do they mean the same thing?

If so, which is preferable?

Also, what is the opposite of the above sentence(s)?
