Serve as V.S. Act as

Hello Everyone,

I have a question regarding the difference between the phrasal verbs "serve as" and "act as". I have read many example sentences in different dictionaries, but I still have a hard time comprehending the difference. Would you please show me what the difference between them is?

Would you please correct my grammatical mistakes too if there are any?

Thank you very much in advance

Would you please correct my grammatical mistakes too, comma if there are any? Often, there is no difference, but here are couple of comments. serve as To me, this suggests something was intentionally useful.
