Hi. Could you clarify the pronoun's case that should be used in the following examples?

These men should manage the workers, not serve as them.

These men should manage the workers, not act as them.

These men should manage the workers, not serve as they.

These men should manage the workers, not act as they.

What sentences are correct, given that the intended meaning is that these men should not perform the duties of workers?

These two are not wrong, and the second is a little better. You want the object of the preposition "as", so the case has to be objective.

None of them are correct because, basically, "serve as {pronoun}" at the end of a sentence like that just doesn't occur in English.

They should manage the workers, not do their work (for them).
