series of sentences after colon

Hi,

Is it acceptable to write a series of sentences after colon as an explanation of the first sentence?

For example,

Internet has changed our life: (first aspect in a complete sentence), (second aspect in a complete sentence), third, and fourth.

What about:

The Internet has changed our life. (first aspect in a complete sentence), (second aspect in a complete sentence), third, and fourth.

You can't join separate sentences by just commas.
The simplest choice is to just use periods.
