Is it correct to say: watch a series? For instance, if you are bored, watch a series on TV.

I've never heard it.

What kind of TV program are you talking about? If it's one of those continuing stories that goes on and on for years with about a half hour or an hour a day, you're probably talking about a soap opera.

Thank you CalifJim. So, 'a series' is incorrect. I'm asking this because in the dictionary it says that 'series' is a countable noun, and I got confused.

'a series' is correct grammatically. 'series' is a countable noun. However, one series consists of many episodes which are all about the same cha

Sort of, but not so much. It's a drama that's shown in installments, so just "a series" would be the better description. I guess you wouldn't call that a soap opera.
