Is the word 'serenity' commonly used in English?
For exemple, does it sound natural to say:
"I sometimes prefer not to think too much about the future, and instead continue to live with as much serenity as possible."
The Oxford English Dictionary places "serenity" in their Frequency Band 5 ("literate vocabulary associated with educated discourse") with words such as "penchant" and "tumult". I think "serenity" is on the low end of that band, more likely to be understood by the average Joe than the other two I mentioned. I would say it is of high register and would sound too formal in everyday speech.
