Hello people,
I have been studying and learning Sequence Of Tenses (SOT), which is mainly used in reported speech and "IF" conditional statements, and to clear my understanding further for the SOT concept, I would like to know:
1. Do we use SOT or backshifting in complex structures?
For instance, consider the following complex sentence
he would realize his responsibilities after he is married
2. Do we use "he was/got married" or "he is married"? (Note: the person is unmarried currently, so I feel "is married" sounds correct; however, I am looking into the grammatical accuracy of this sentence)
P.S. I've asked two questions, numbered and bolded, in this post, therefore, answering both questions would be super helpful for my understanding.
Regards
Faraz Amjad
