Sequence of tenses

Hello, everyone!
My question is about the sequence of tenses.

As Terri (get) _____________ out of the taxi, she (slip) _______________ and (break) ________ clothes, she (have) ___________________ to walk home in her swimsuit.

I did "got - slipped - broke & had" because the doer did four (4) actions one by one. I wonder if "was getting - slipped - broke - had" right or wrong.

Thanks in advance!

Is this ONE sentence? I don't understand "to break clothes". It makes more sense if she broke her ankle, leg, or arm.

Hi,

Perhaps the suggested verb should be 'tear' instead of 'break'? That would make sense.

I read this all as a run-on sentence. It need a period after 'clothes'.
