Separating titles off

Should I follow a person's title with a comma or not?

"I have collaborated with Professor Fred Frederickson, Ph.D., and committed countless hours to community service."

OR

"I have collaborated with Professor Fred Frederickson, Ph.D. and committed countless hours to community service."

Which one?

D. would not normally be included in such a sentence. It's enough to indicate that he is a professor.
