I'd like to ask you about the sentences below. Could you tell me if everything's OK with the tenses used in them? Each sentence begins with the phrase: The spokesman informed that ...
1.The spokesman informed that during his second day of stay in Germany the premier was due to meet the top German businessmen.
2.The spokesman informed that the ties between both countries had been very close for many years and would be strengthened in the future.
3.The spokesman informed that Germany wanted to join the EU as soon as possible.
4.The spokesman informed that international events and matters had been touched on during the talks.
5.The spokesman informed that both countries would probably expand bilateral cooperation after this visit.
6.The spokesman informed that prime minister’s itinerary included a visit to/in Berlin. (should it be a visit TO or IN?)
7.The spokesman informed that the prime minister is due to visit the university and the castle. (shouldn't it be "was due to visit ..."?) or maybe "would be due to visit ..."?

None of them are right: 'informed' needs an object, e.g 'informed us'.

Yesterday I felt like doing one exercise and the instruction said: "Begin each sentence with: The spokesman informed that ..."
E.G. The spokesman informed that the president would come on a state visit soon.

3. 'Is' is fine if the visit is still of relevance (at the time the sentence was spoken, of course). If you had used 'was' it would have been ok too.

Can you tell me why "would" doesn't work in this case? It's the past of "will".

Perhaps it's not entirely incorrect grammatically but, to me, it sounds strange to say that.
