Eleanor Roosevelt was born on , in . She was the first of six children born by Anna Hall and Elliot Roosevelt. Eleanor early years were awful considering what normal girls her age went through. First, Eleanor’s mother made her feel insecure about her look, which caused Eleanor not to think very much of herself. She basically hated the way she looked and desperately wanted to be beautiful like her mother. Next, Eleanor father developed a drinking problem. This was probably the worst thing that Eleanor had to deal with during her childhood because she loved her father and did not want him to drink so much. Elliot tried many times to find a stop drinking, but he was always depress about something. First, not being about to provide Anna with luxury, then not being able to see his children, and then his real estate business was starting to fail. He was devasted and often turned to alcohol to deal with his problems. Then, he was having affairs with many women which made Anna leave him. He tried for months to stop drinking and did for a while, but his life was too tough and he felt right back to drinking. Next Eleanor, had to deal with three deaths, first her mother died from then her little brother Ellie died from, and then her father fell into a coma and die. Eleanor was devasted but she knew how to handle death really well. Within two years, Eleanor had lost her father, mother, and brother which devasted her. Eleanor was upset but she knew how to handle death well. I must say that Eleanor had a tough and horrible childhood.
