Nowadays, the purpose of reading the event from history book is not to encourage the retaliation but to forgive and forget. So seriously do people take the event that they understand how to tolerate and respect others.

Hello kk This is my version: The fact that most intellectuals were killed by the corrupt government meant that Taiwanese society was unable to develop. When we read about those events now in our history books, we do so not to stir up the desire for revenge, but so that we can forgive and forget. By taking those events seriously, we learn to tolerate and respect other people.

This is my version:
The fact that most intellectuals were killed by the corrupt government meant that Taiwanese society was unable to develop. When we read about those events now in our history books, we do so not to stir up the desire for revenge, but so that we can forgive and forget. By taking those events seriously, we learn to tolerate and respect other people.
