Are both these sentences correct (and do they mean the same):


a) "While I smiled for the picture, I felt miserable from the inside."

They're both unnatural.

"While I smiled for the picture, I felt miserable inside."

"While" is correct enough there, but it lays a false scent. The reader does not know you mean "although" by it until it's too late. "Although" is better.
