Which is correct:



a) "Judging FROM his looks, I wouldn't say he was Egyptian."


Or

Both are used. I would favour 'by', although looking elsewhere, it appears 'from' is preferred by British English dictionary sources. I'm British, but 'by' feels more comfortable.
