People always stare at me when I don't wear a t-shirt.
People always stare at me when I'm not wearing a t-shirt.
People are always staring at me when I don't wear a t-shirt.
People are always staring at me when I'm not wearing a t-shirt. - Which ones are correct? I made them up because I don't know how to choose between an ing for or the standard one when there're two verbs in sentences like these? Could anyone help me? Thanks.

How do you decide when it comes time between ing and the standard versions when there are two verbs in one sentence?

Honestly, I don't even think about it. I suppose that the statement may be marginally more focussed on the progressive verb.
