  1. He's the best dancer. He dances much more beautiful than anyone else. 
  2. He's the best dancer. He dances more beautifully than anyone else.
Some English test says the second sentence is right.

Adjectives answer the question "What kind?"
Adverbs answer the question "How?"

What kind of dance was it? -- It was a beautiful dance.
