Hello!

I had trouble with logging in, that's why I'm sending this post as an anonymous. I am taking a proficiency exam in June and now I'm studying a new vocabulary. The best way for me is to form sentences with new words, but I don't now if I use them correctly, so please could you check the following sentences, the new words are in bold.

3.11.2009:

- The slovenian company Carrera produces different parts of glasses, but the end product is made in Italy.

- English people eat scones and drink tea for the afternoon tea.

- Victoria sponge with strawberry cream is a delicious dessert.

- A Wetsuit is a garment, worn by divers, windsurfers, canoeists, and others engaged in water sports, which provides thermal insulation.

- There were people of all ages, ranging from teenagers to pensioners.

- Her son goes to nursery school, he is only three years old.

- My friend eats cucumbers with mustard, some people have bizarre eating habits.

- The end of the movie was really heart- breaking, she left him alone with three children.

- Many people don't have the ability to emotionally bond with one another, which results in an unsuccessful relationship.

- I didn't have any motivation to study ,but finally I dragged myself to the library and studied hard, so I passed the exam.

- The third part of The Pirates Of the Carebbean was deadly boring, I slept a half of the movie.

- ?I thought she was a man, she looks very butch.? ?No, she is a lesbian and that's why she wants her body to look butch and likes to wear butch haircuts.?

- The ?La Palipotia? is a show that I found deadly boring just to fast-forward through. I can’t imagine how mind-numbingly dull it could be to actually watch it.

- Life is an ongoing process.

- IBM aims to create a computer which replicates human brain. (syn. mimic, simulate, copy, to wire a mockup, to make the same)

- If you are not satisfied with your figure, go to the gym to shape up.

- Although I hate to plunge into mudd I have done some bog diving for golf ball recovery.

10.11.2009:

- Hurdling is a type of track and field race. The 100m hurdles are run by women the male counterpart is the 110 metre hurdles.

- Despite hectic schedules, some celebrities spend quality time with their children.

- 1: National Express is a leading coach service in Britain, they can take you to any british town or city.

2: Manuel Pellegrini is a new coach of the Real Madrid football team.

- One should warm up before doing any sport, even dancing, to get the muscles ready for the workout.

- Each individual should get the minimum of twenty sessions in a psycotherapeutical healing process.

- I think that the best way to keep balance in your life is to obey the saying: work hard, play hard. I always reward myself after hard work.

- Conservation which means less energy used means less fossil fuel burned, so when we conserve energy we conserve natural resources.

- She didn't want to go on a holiday to Asia, and he didn't fancy going to Africa, so they both settled for Latin America.

- The relay is a track-and-field sport consisting of a set number of stages (legs), usually four, each leg run by a different member of a team.

- Each segment of the relay (the distance run by one person) is referred to as a leg.

- A baton is an object transferred by runners in a relay race.

- I swear I didn't follow you, it was a sheer coincidence that we met.


- 1:She was alone in a big castle room when she heard pounding on the door. When she opened the door there was nobody there. It was scary.

2: She got really drunk after having pounded the third cocktail.

- He smoothed away a wisp of eyelash from her cheek.

- Tomaž Humar was serioulsy injured on monday and the rescue was stopped due to the bad weather coming in. He was found dead after four days.

- The university can be finished only with huge exertion.

- I hate her witty remarks, she always looks very smart and funny and I never know what to say.

- A diligent worker carries out all the duties with care and exactness.

- Studying can be a very dreary process, especially when one is not interested in the topic of the study.

- Acute hospitals are those intended for short-term medical treatment and care.

- A chronic desease develops slowly and over a longer period of time.

-1: Cockroaches scurry when you turn the lights on.

2: Presidential candidates always scurry for the last-minute votes by visiting different towns and cities of a country.

- We can't be philosophical about the global warming issue. Well, unfortunatelly, some people are.

- Homosexuals sometimes seem to have no right of dignity, they are often treated with direspect and disdain.

- So far so good, I haven't cought a swine flu yet.

- The whole Slovenia grieves over Tomaž Humar, but I think he has always been asking for trouble.

- When are our footballers heading off for South Africa?

- She sprained her ankle because of her high heels.

- She suffers from a severe illness and her condition has even deteriorated lately and everybody is afraid she is going to die.

- A microclimate is a local atmospheric zone where the climate differs from the surrounding area.

- Low visibility has to be taken in account by drivers when the fog is dense.

- There was a beautiful waterfall falling down over a precipice.
