Sentence verbs

Hello,

In the sentence below, I am cofused about the use of the three verbs forms that are used (believe, doing and plays).

I believe that doing outdoor activities plays an importabt role in helping kids to stay healthy.

Is believe the main verb and the clause that follows (that doing outdoor activities plays an important role in helping kids to stay healthy) acting as an object?

or Are the three verbs part of a catenative structure?

Thank you for your time.
