Sentence used when describing a graph
"Watching TV and shopping all showed an increase in the number of hours teenagers spent on these activities."
I do not understand how "watching TV and shopping" can show the "increase in number".
"The graph" is the one that shows it.
So, why the sentence above can be used when writing an essay?
