Sentence transformations

I have to complete the sentence so that it means the same as the first one, using the correct form of the given word. I have tried to do the trasnformation but I am not sure whether my sentences are correct.

1. I didn't want to tell him the truth but I had to. - rather
I ............................................ him the horrible truth but I had to.
I'd rather haven't told him the horrible truth but I had to.(that's what I've written)
Now I have to use something like he is thought to have stollen.
2. Yesterday the situation had improved. -report
Well I can't get the meaning of the sentence but I've written this: Yesterday the situation was reported to have improved.
3. Last year the company recorded rising profits -report
Last year the company was reported to have recorded rising profits.
