Can I rewrite it as

I think these are better choices:
1. In spite of my call(ing), he gave me no answer.
2. In spite of the fact that I called him, he gave me no answer.
3. In spite of my calling, he gave me no answer.
4. In spite of being called, he gave me no answer.

tamguatlayAlthough I called him, he gave me no answer.
If I rewrite it as " In spite of calling him, he gave me no answer." , is it grammatical and acceptable? Thanks.

In spite of calling him, he gave me no answer.

In spite of calling him doesn't state who called him, so it isn't correct.

You need "In spite of my calling him..." OR

"In spite of the fact I called him,..."

How about " In spite of my calling to him or my calling"

In spite of my calling him (no 'to')...
In spite of my calling... doesn't state who you were calling.
