Sentence structure/tense/semantics

Dear All,

is the following sentence (which is a description underneath a picture in a comic strip) correct? I'm especially uncertain when it comes to the verb.

"On his way to work, Mr X comes upon various perils."

Those who compiled Random House Dictionary think the verb is correctly used in your sentence. Definition No. 25 for come upon is: "to encounter, especially by chance". I can't find any other mistakes in the sentence, either.
