Sentence Structure? Question

Please tell me if the following sentence is written correctly. Implicit parentheses mean the same thing as explicit parentheses but they are not visible. I'm not sure if "they" refers to the implicit parentheses or to the explicit parentheses. After letting me know, could you also direct me to a ressource that could give me more practice with such sentences?
Thanks
