Hi teachers, can anyone tell me whether or not my sentence is redundant?
That was the first time I called you by your name.
Should I change it to "That was the first time I called you by name."
They are both OK. They are a bit different, but it is hard to say how. Santa called his reindeer by name on the night before Christmas.

They are both OK. They are a bit different, but it is hard to say how. Santa called his reindeer by name on the night before Christmas. That just means he used their names to call to them. If he had called them by their names, that would suggest that he normally called to them some other way. In your sentences, "by your name" sounds more personal than "by name".

It's not redundant. There is no need to change it.
