What you mean by 'it' is unclear. I suggest 'According to our religious teachings, we believe that *** has created this universe.'

Do I take it to understand that psychiatric issues can only be managed and not to be cured.

Thank you Clive, as you pointed out 'it' is rather unclear,I should have phrased my first sentence as - we take it to believe that *** has created this universe. In that case is it okay?
