Sentence structure

In the two examples below, the correct understanding of structure will be, a. or b.?
Or maybe both?

It's the boss brings us payment.
a. It’s the boss that(or who) brings us payment.
b. It’s that the boss brings us payment.

Do you know why it is Jane does shopping so often?
a. Do you know why it is Jane that(or who) does shopping so often?
b. Do you know why it is that Jane does shopping so often?

Top answer

To me, the first sentence looks pretty marginal written down. I suppose it might be used in casual speech to mean (a). I find (b) quite hard to put into a context.

"brings us payment" may not be the most natural either. I wonder why not "pays us", for example.

I understand the second sentence to mean (b), but it is harder to read without "that". One pot
