Sentence review please

All right, I know I've been taught proper usage/punctuation of "etc" but I forgot, and Google searches don't seem to bring up much. Plus I'd like to see what people here say.
If you could please review the sentence,
"Last year I taught for someone who pretty much gave a percentage of As, a percentage of Bs, a percentages of Cs, etc. to the class."

for usage, grammar and punctuation.
Thank you,
James
As always please correct grammar, usage and punctuation.

There's something wrong with that sentence, but it's not the "etc."

I was taught to put a comma after the "etc." O

You taught for someone who did that? Did they give you a tray of just so many letter grades that you could pass on to your students? Anyway, there be

The inclusion of that post-"etc." comma is reasonable and probably even better punctuation.
[nq:1]Other than that, I would have written "fixed percentages of".[/nq]

Didn't you ever have a teacher who graded on a strict Bell curve? There were many teachers at my university who did. I wouldn't be surpirsed to hear that this EFL teacher worked in Asia.

I don't see the differences in meaning for the plural vs. singular of that word as you describe. If anything, the singular implies that the grades will all be allocated equally assuming that there are five grades (A, B, C, D, and F), each would be given to 20% of the students.

As various percentages are at hand, they are plural and require a plural verb.

Is no one going to complain about that "As" business? If there ever is a time to employ the apostrophe rule that began to be phased out about thirty years ago, surely it is for single letters. A's, B's, C's.

I deleted the "As" once before posting,
