Sentence Review.
In the below passage, I'm wondering whether the word 'hand' comes across strange and as if the character only has one hand. May change it to hands but not sure. What do you think?
'I rode the journey home balancing on my aching feet, clutching Sarah's gift if salvation in my hand. With traffic moving slowly and cautiously, it took a fair time to get home. I stood clinging to one of the metal poles, which helped my balance.'
