I am not sure whether the four sentences make sense in term of grammar and semantics. 

Can you give me a hand with checking them

1. It is borrowing money that goes against the spirit of a friendship.

2.When I asked him to pay off his debt to me, he responded to me that he was in the hole and unlike to pay off his debt.

3.To ensure that his friend had to pay off the debt, my father asked him to sign an agreement.

4. After he couldn’t pay off his debt to my father, my father no longer seen him as a friend though they had stayed on good term with him for more than twenty years.

I suggest a little more correction on no.4-- '...even though they had been on good terms...'
