Are both correct?
I thought you had no plans.
I though you did not have any plans.

Thanks a lot. So in writing both are correct, but in speech only the one with 'didn't'. Is it just more common in speech or what?

They're both correct in writing and speaking. Speakers just tend to take the shorter and more informal path. After all, if you're not making yourself clear, the person you're talking to is right there to say, "Huh?"
