Sentence question

Can the word 'life' in this fixed piece of expression (his life('s) story) that is part of a sentence be with and without ''s'? If so, would you show me an example for each.

Thanks.

Thanks, teacher.

So in all kinds of sentences or most maybe, only the one without 's would work and be natural, such as: he told me his life story; we were talking about his life story.. Would that be right, along others sentences?
