Sentence question

Is this sentence correct?

Wait for the books to be returned back to the library.

Top answer

Anonymous Wait for the books to be returned back to the library. Fine, but leave out 'back'. 'return' means 'give back', so you certainly don't need 'back' because it's already part of the meaning of 'return'.

Does that sentence essentially have the same meaning as "wait until the books are returned to the library"?
