Is the word 'for' possible in both of these sentences:

I have been sick 'for' the last few says.
I was sick 'for' the last few days.

If both are correct, does the second indicate that I am no longer sick?

I think this one is also correct, and as you've said it means you're no longer sick. In the first sentence we don't know if you're still sick or not.
