Sentence pattern
Hi,
"The father is looking down into the crib at his sleeping newborn daughter, just home from the hospital."
Does the part "just home from the hospital" here means "when he is just home from the hospital"?
Does this sentence have the same sentence pattern with "She finished her dish, contented"?
If not, would you please give me a sentence that has simily constructions?

Hello! " "just home from the hospital" modifies the noun it's the nearest to, the "newborn daughter". As to the second sentence, I'd rephrase it as follows: "Contented, she finished her dish", although I'd rather say "Contented, she pushed back her emptied plate" A similar construction?

"The father is looking down into the crib at his sleeping newborn daughter, (who has) just home from the hospital."
"just home from the hospital" modifies the noun it's the nearest to, the "newborn daughter".
As to the second sentence, I'd rephrase it as follows: "Contented, she finished her dish", although I'd rather say "Contented,
