Grammar

Sentence parts

Hi Everyone,

What is the difference between a 'fragment' and a 'subordinate clause/depent clause'?

I can't see the difference.

Thanks

A fragment (in grammar) is an incomplete sentence. It might be any part of a sentence including a subordinate, i.e., dependent, clause, but it is incorrectly written as if it were a complete sentence, i.e., begins with a capital letter, ends with a period or other appropriate punctuation.

1) Holly stayed at home today. 2) Because she had to take care of the baby.
3) Holly
