I know I can say I have not exercised for a while. Is it also correct to say: I did not work put for a while!

Sorry. I mean 'out' instead of 'put'.
Is this the present perfect: I have not worked out for a while. I think it is better as well.

But I would like to know if 'I did not work out for a while' is correct!

1. I did not work out yesterday.

2. I did not work out the last two years, or should it be I have not worked out the last two years.
