Sentence inquiry

Is it correct to say a separate sentence after your teacher suggests that you do something: I think this would be a great opportunity for me.

What does that mean exactly?
Do you have any other suggestion in which I should say?

Thanks.

Great. How about this one: it would be a great opportunity if I would be allowed to work with you for a few days.

Or should the second 'would be' in the sentence be substituted for 'were'.

Thanks in advance.

I would show confidence and use 'am'.

So would all of them be correct: would be, were,or am.

You suggest that I say: it would be a great opportunity if 'I am' allowed to work with you for a few days.

For some reason my computer points out a grammatical error when using 'am' and suggests 'were'! Why is that?

Because it is just a computer. It is not aware of the subtleties that can be wrought with language.

Great. Thank you for the tip teacher. Actually that was my first choice but that d..n computer made me doubt.

Just curious, would any of these be correct in the sentence: would be, were,or am.

They are all correct. The duplication makes 'would' awkward; I would substitute 'could'. 'Were' is the standard formal choice. And 'am' as I said shows confidence.

Just double checking the use of 'could', in which the sentence would still be the same except for the substitution of would: ..........If I could be allowed to work with you for a few days.

Is that correct?
