Sentence improvement

He met with an accident and was immediately admitted to the hospital.

A) admitted to hospital
B) admitted into a hospital
C) no improvement

According to my book, the answer is (C).

Shouldn't it be (A)?

For BrE, when hospital/ church / prison / school / jail/ college/ bed / temple are visited for their primary purpose then they are not preceded by article 'the'.so in the above question, please help me understand how 'the' is used before 'hospital' .
