Sentence improvement

Improve the word in capital.

1) I shall RING HIM tomorrow in the afternoon.

A) ring him up
B) No improvement

Answer given is B. Shouldnt it be A?

Ring someone up :- to telephone someone

2) All his answers WOULD BE correct

A) were
B) No improvement

Answer is B according to my book

'Would be' is used for past.

Shouldnt we use ' will be' or ' were" here?

Pls help.

1) "ring him" and "ring him up" both mean to telephone him. The second arguably has a slightly more informal feel, and may have a faintly different nuance in some contexts. "No improvement" is reasonable, I suppose, while noting that (A) is not incorrect. "tomorrow afternoon" would be usual there.

2) It is impossible to say whether "would be" or "were" (or indeed "will be") is appropriate
