Sentence improvement

He has his meal at two, when he has it, he goes off to sleep.

a) when he has had it
b) when he will have it
c) when he will have had it
d) No Improvement

Answer is (a).

I believe the answer should have been (d). Please guide me on this.

Did you type this correctly? It's a run-on sentence, ie two sentences joined incorrectly by a comma. You need a period after 'two', or a conjunction.
