Sentence help

Dear Sir,

Is it a good sentence when i write like this "These children missed their opportunity to study higher for years because there is no secondary school in their village."

I am not sure if a phrase "study higher" is correct. Thanks

watermelon2Dear Sir,
Your attempt to be polite is appreciated, watermelon, but we are not that formal in this forum. There is also the point that many of the people who give excellent responses here are female.

It is perfectly acceptable just to ask your question in a polite way, with a please or thanks (as you did).

None of these mean the same thing as secondary school, which is what was mentioned in the question.
