Hi teacher. It is an article that I need to familiarize myself with, but the other person knows that, so that is why I said paper. He had told me, not sure how much time you need to prepare for the paper. So that is want I want to respond back.

Are the sentences generally correct?

Do you mean you are going to read an article?
Why do you have to prepare for it?
0
Yes, to read it and prepare to discuss it and ask questions.

OK. It was the word 'paper' that was unclear to me. The term is commonly used for scholarly articles.
For newspapers and magazines, the less scholarly term is 'an article'.

Both your sentences are OK.

Thanks for your concern. Teacher could you correct this sentence that I am trying to put together:

I am also not sure how much time I need to prepare, but I hope not very long.

Is that sentence correct?

Thank you. Just curious, would changing 'I hope' to 'I am hoping', and adding 'will' before 'need' be possible?

There are many ways to write in English so sometimes I get confused!!!

Lastly, are these correct as well:

I am not sure how long it will take me to prepare for your paper.
I am not sure how long I will take to prepare for your paper.

Many thanks in

Thank you very much teacher.

Just to clarify the first question:
would changing 'I hope' to 'I am hoping', and adding 'will' before 'need' be possible?

I also meant if it would be correct to do one or the other, not changing both together? I am assuming that would be correct as well. right?
