Sentence formulation

Hi, i have a question about a sentence, it is the chorus of one of my songs:

"if i ever saw that you're falling, than i'd pick you up".. is it correct?

maybe it would be better this way "if i ever saw you falling, than i'd pick you up", but it doesn't fit the metrics..

thank you

It should be " I f I ever saw that you were falling, then I'd pick you up". However, in song lyrics you can get away with things that maybe aren't strictly grammatically correct, and "you're" (= "you are") is probably acceptable if it's necessary to fit the melody. Alternatively, you could say "If I ever see that you're falling, then I'll pick you up", which scans the same.

  • It should be " I f I ever saw that you were falling, then I'd pick you up".

  • " I f I ever saw you falling, then I'd pick you up" is fine.
