Sentence driving me crazy! Please help

Hi,

My essay prompt is

"Describe a time when you were frustrated. What advice will you give to a friend who is in a similar situation".
My key transition lines are below. Line 2 is very awkward, but I essentially want to say that I will advice a friend in a similar situation (i.e. where the goal is to do ABC) to use my strategy. Please assist!

"My strategy taught me XYZ. While this strategy helped me to launch my own business, I will advice my friend to apply it in similar situations where the goal is to do ABC".

With this success in mind, I would advise my friend to apply it to his situation also because his goal, to do ABC, is very similar to my need to XYZ.
