Sentence difference

Is there a difference between these or are they basically interchangeable?

When are you going to visit me?
When will you visit me?

When are you going back home?
When will you go back home?

I have been told that they are basically the same. Is that generally correct?

Thank you very much, teacher.

Also, the same rationale applies when they are used within a sentence that is not a question. Right?

Generally, yes, there is little difference in most uses nowadays, with 'be going to' dominating.

Got it thank you, teacher.

To test my understanding, both of the below are correct but maybe 'going to' is more common:

I am going to see Mr. James tomorrow.
I will see Mr. James tomorrow.

Am I right?

Thanks, teacher. I am assuming that 'I am seeing Mr. James tomorrow' is also possible. Right?
