Sentence difference

What is the difference between these, specifically the location of 'all'?

Thanks all for your hard work.
Thanks for all your hard work.
Thanks for all of your hard work.

Top answer

The first of them, which is not very natural, is thanking everybody for their hard work. 'All' modifies an implied 'you' The second and third are thanking the people for all (of) their hard work. 'All' modifies 'your hard work'.

Thanks.
fivejedjon which is not very natural
I hear and see it all the time. Why is it not natural and what would be a natural way?
fivejedjonthanking the people for all (of) their hard work.
Does that suggest that (of) is optional in this case?

I said that it was not very natural. That does not mean the same as 'not natural'. In my dialect of English, we tend to say 'Thank you all'.

The 'of' is optional after 'all' in this case.
