To be more precise in writing a scientific name of organisms:

- capitalize the first letter of generic name, while the rest (including the whole of specific epithet) is written in small case. (as what Sri has said earlier)
- use italics for generic name and specific epithet. but, as for hand-written manuscript, you have to underline what are to be italicized. So, it should be written as : Azadirachta indica (italicized) / Azadirachta indica (with underline)

but, still, we have some exceptions to these rules:
- when it's written as a title or main heading, the full scientific name can be written in block letter (capitalized), and can eitther be italicized or not.
- when appeared together in a paragraph where the type of font is italic, scientic name may be written in normal type font in order to make it distinct from the rest.
- use full scientific name when it first appears, then abbreviate generic name afterwards.

p.s: simply sharing what i have been taught by my respectable doctors during my lectures (again and again for these so many years)
