Hi
Please tell me which of these is correct.
1. Goriot had brought with him a considerable wardrobe, the gorgeous outfit of a retired tradesman, who denies himself nothing.
2. Goriot had brought with him a considerable wardrobe, the gorgeous outfit of a retired tradesman who denies him nothing.
3. Goriot had brought with him a considerable wardrobe, the gorgeous outfit of a retired tradesman who denies himself nothing.
I think the answer is #1. I think so because I see the use of himself in the adjectival clause and comma before it to be appropriate.
But the answer given in the book is #2.
Please give your views.
The correct answer is actually #3.
