sentence- correctness

Hi Please tell me whether my sentence is OK.
1. Context- A rubber seal at the lid of the fuel tank prevents from dust getting into the tank and also from fuel getting out when the vehicle jerks especially when the diesel is up to the brink.
My sentence- If the rubber seal in the diesel tank lid is in good condition, it prevents from dust getting into the tank and also from diesel oozing out during jerks.

Top answer

If the rubber seal in the diesel tank cap is in good condition, it prevents dust getting into the tank and fuel spillage when the vehicle is in motion. Others may be able to suggest further ways of expressing this. Wait to see what ideas others have.
